LO2 Be able to initiate, plan and design a new interactive media product to a client brief

Student council website where students can then post updates, quizzes and questions for the students. 

I have been tasked to create a website for the student council for Doncaster UTC where the student council can then post quizzes, questions and update for the other students to then be able to access. This product will include interactive media features that gives the website a more professional view, this website will support the student council from giving them the freedom to then post onto the website aimed at just the students of Doncaster UTC this means the website will specifically be aimed at the students and be run by the students themselves. This will make it so that students can keep updated and know exactly what is going on in the college and if there is any important information that the students need to know. My client for this project is the student council and the teachers at the college for they then know that the students have a platform to connect and to then keep posted on just student information more directly an efficiently. 

Target audience: For this media product the target audience will be male and females ages 16-18 with any social class and to be for all ethnical groups. This target audience will need to be relevant for the Doncaster UTC students, the content on the website will relate to them and help them to understand and gather more information for the college and any important information they need to know. 

User needs: When the users are accessing my website they will be needing an easy access to information that is important for them. They will also want to see information on activities and events that will be happening at the UTC such as parents having and opening evenings, there will also be information on how students can become involved with the student council and the latest updates on them. 

Client needs: During the websites creation I will make sure to consider the purpose of the website being promoting the college to the students and informing them on what's happening in the college or will be happening. This website will promote the student council and inform the students on how they can become involved with the student council, the client has requested there to be information that promotes the college in a positive lighting. For the client being the student council and the UTC staff I will ensure to make sure that any content that I intend to put onto the website will be checked by them beforehand. 

Purpose: The purpose of this website would be to connect student to one another and be able to then gather information from each other. This can be done through quizzes and surveys, they could also then post updates on the college and if there are any notices that students need to know. This website would help to promote the college and the activities that are available and occurring at that moment in time. 

Interactive features: On this website there will be many interactive features included such as surveys, videos for different subjects, icon buttons and different buttons for different pages in the navigation bar. 

For this media product there would not be a budget because I have access to the software and equipment that I may need to then complete the product. 

- Home page: main page with basic details on, navigation bar, logos, images of students

- school interactive map: map showing where the college is and where the common rooms are 

- posts page: ? blogs, interviews 

- activities page: contain information on the activities that are occurring and have occurred in the past

- about us: what the college is about and how it is different to others 

- what college life is like: interviews with students

- student rooms: y12 y13 (sub pages) 360 shot of the rooms, kitchen area

- who's on the council: images, text on the students, quotes from students

- gallery: images from events at the college, photos of students together

- submit your issues: section to add issues, who you want the issues to go to, issues sown other students may have

I have named the pages the way I have to fit the users needs because as a Doncaster UTC student I have more of an idea what a student would want to see and that would be useful for the students. The names of the pages are specific to the basic needs of a students and to give them any further specific needs a student might have or might want to know. Behind every page would be information specific to the name of the page, they can expect there to be useful information behind the pages that can be useful for the students.

On this visualisation digram I will have to change the idea of the black text on the purple background because it is hard to read for the audience and it can go against the equality law, this could cause issues for the client because they can then get trouble from people for this offence. To avoid this happening I will change the colour of the background or the text so it is easier for the audience to read.
